Niger Delta Development Commission NDDC, says ongoing Digitization of procurement process training aims at building capacity among service providers.
This was the position of Director Procurement NDDC, Dr. Chuks Osuji during Stakeholders sensitization and Training workshop in Aba, Abia State.
Represented by Deputy Director Procurement, Mr. Freeman Okwurakpo, Dr. Osuji expressed optimism that the knowledge gained would make bidding process of NDDC contracts seamless.
Similarly, Director, Abia State Office NDDC, Anderson Ukeh expressed joy that the interventionist agency has become one of the first government agencies to transit from paper to digital platforms.
In a lecture on ‘Promoting Best Procurement Practices and Digital Systems for NDDC,’ an Associate Professor of Procurement from Federal University of Technology Owerri FUTO, Dr. Rex Ugulu, who defined procurement as a process by which Government Arms go about delivery of goods and services, insisted that if public procurement was properly managed, it would eliminate corruption.
Dr. Ugulu explained that procurement apart from enhancing development also creates Jobs.
In attendance were contractors and other dignitaries, including Commissioner representing Abia State on NDDC Board, Chief DIMGBA Erugba.
